Default Perma-Cool or Flex-A-Lite

Well, when I replaced my waterpump last week, I realized how much room the stock clutch fan takes up and figured I could use that room to run my procharger pipes a little different.

First off, I know everyone is going to say get ls1 fans, but I want something thats made for my truck that fits and functions properly. With that out of the way, which is better and why. I know there are a few running the Flex-A-Lites, but haven't heard about anyone running the Perma-Cools. I have heard of problems with the vsc on the FALs, what exactly is the problem, and what is the fix for it. Any problems with the PC fans? What should I do to either to make them better, if anything.

Anyone have any pics of either installed? Since I do show my truck every now and then, they have to look at place as well. Thanks

I am running th LS1 fans (Ebay $85) with a Flexalite VSC ($80). Haven't had any problems. Iv'e heard other people say the VSC gets hot and melts. 2 Texas summers, so far so good.

I think the main problem with the vsc is it is prone to getting hot, and has the possiblility of catching on fire. I don't know anything about the perma-cools, but I do know the FAL are good fans. Personally I currently have LS1 fans and they are working fine and are controled with my pcm. If you really want something that fits your truck the best think you could probably do is get an 05 radiator and some 05 e-fans. SDPC was running a special on the 05 fans with a nelson harness not too long ago and I think they still have them available. The larger radiator I belive should bolt right up with no problems. I just put one in my 03 and it fits perfectly I got it locally, brand new for a little over $200. I might upgrade to the 05 e-fans later on if I find a really good deal on them or my ls1 fans don't keep my truck cool enough this summer.

well...I have flexalites for our rads....I love em...as far as the VSC im almsot positve that FAL fixed the problem because of some legal issues. The mounting hardware, and everything was top notch. They are a really impressive piece...and will free up some good HP for you too....here are all the pics I have...I would highly recommennd them...beauty truck by the way..one of my favorites

I just installed the Perma Cool kit. I don't have picks yet but the kit is great and so simple to install. just 3 wires.

I'll try to get some picks this weekend.
