You stick with the Mobil 1. I'll stick with my Penzoil 10-40. 226,000 miles on my old truck and it ran like a champ. Thats changing the oil every 10k.

10years of pulling trailers and street racing on the old 350.

That's great that you've had such good luck with the Penzoil. However, I encourage you to take the Penzoil to a road course and heat it up to around 300F and let me know what happens. I roadrace the hell out of my C5 and I would NEVER run conventional oil on a roadcourse.

It sux there's that much oil in the intake. Is there any way to get rid of the PCV safely? I dont want anything but cold air going into my engine. Well maybe a little spray too.

Yeah I've heard that about Pennzoil too, something about it's parafin or something. Wax.

I wouldn't run conventional oil in any real high performance vehicle if it's N/A, turbo, or blown. Syn has the ability to resist heat far better. In general street use, any cheapo oil is fine. Just change it regularly and you're going to be fine. Changing Syn at 3-4K is a waste too.

Is it ever too late to run syn oil? I have heard that if you started on regular oil then stick with it, but that could just be someone blowing smoke.

I dont' think it is too late but you never know. I want to put some Syn in my mother's LS400 but it's got 170K...

Well damn, I have always heard Pennzoil was pretty good. We sell that crap by the truck load at work to customers that swear by it.

Just keep it changed often and it should be fine. When you just run it for way too long is when it goes bad and begins to get thicker.

With cheaper oils just be on top of changing them often.

you know that comercial where they say mechanics use valvolene in their own cars. i have asked several and it seems to be true.

i dont know much about oil, i normaly use whatever full synthetic is the cheapest at the time. maybe since i use synthetic it wont get as nasty in the intake ports. i got in on the catch can group purchase today anyways, i dont want any of that reducing the efficency of my intercooler.

I used Royal Purple in the 4.8, and mine didn't look quite THAT bad, but the intake manifold was FULL of oil.

I'm interested in the catch can...where can I get more info on that? I used a glass fuel filter on my PCV, and it seems to be helping a little.
