You have something else going on. If the piston is .008" out of the hole, with your combo, you are at 11.67:1 static and 8.90:1 dynamic. Which is in line and should run like a raped ape.
Usually you want to stick around 8.5:1 dynamic but a lot of guys have gotten away with figures well over 9.0:1. Not sure where everyone is getting there calculations from

With my old setup I was around 11.5:1 SCR and with the valve events of the cam I was running my DCR was right on about 9:1.
Running 93 octane and had my timing in the mid 20's up around my shift point and of course slightly less around peak torque as it should be but didn't have any detonation problems what so ever.

I came up with a static around 11.7:1 myself with the info given in this thread using the dcr calculator that I use.

ok so i went out and bought 10 gallons of 112 octane and put it in the tank. before i added the fuel it was 91 octane. this thing pinged like crazy past 1/4 throttle. after about 10 miles or so that all went away with the 112. i think i have pistons without valve reliefs and have to high of compression for 91 octane. any thoughts? im going to put a bore scope in the spark plug holes tomorrow to see what pistons are in there.
