No disrespect but I believe it should be changed out at 500 miles and again at 1,500 miles. Honda is the only manufacture I know of that uses a special brake in oil loaded with moly that should stay in for 5,000 miles and that is debateable. To read up on this and learn all about oil go to bobistheoilguy.com. That site has more info on oil than any other on the web. The only way to really tell how an oil is performing and protecting your engine is to have a UOA (used oil analysis) done. After reading hundreds of pages on this subject based on UOA I would never ever run a brand new car/truck on factory fill oil more then 1,000 miles MAX. Even factory synthetic oil fills get chewed up with break in wear and the TBN (total base number)(active additive in oil) drops fast! Keep fresh oil in the engine for the 1st 3,500 miles. I highly reccomend reading up on this at bobistheoilguy.com. It is worth your time! I learned more there then in auto school.
Do your truck a favor and go read up on oil! You can thank me later!
