Any way you could get some pics of this ??? I think it might be worth posting. If you need someone to host them, I can, just email them to me at flyer@woracing.com.

BTDT - 2 1/2 months running to fix lifter tap and factory paint flaw. 2 months n the shop, no results. GM customer care?!?1 Bwaahahahahha....no such thing.
Good luck with that. They'll try every way til sunday to make it your fault or to delay fixing it. And when they do, good luck in getting a solid repair. My Yukon has ben back 4 times for body work, still not fixed. And its an 04.
My first repair on this truck was for faulty brakes and leaking brake lines. 44 Miles on it, and brakes were puking up fluid all over. I have a stack of work orders for this sucker, less than a year old.
lifter tap, intermediate shaft, loose steering wheel, leaking brakes, peeling paint......on and on.
Like I said, good luck.

Careful, those are some HUGE pics. I mean FREAKING HHUUUUGGGGEEEE! Lots of detail however. Notice the exhaust valve on the CC of the cylinder that messed up.
Snafu, the sheetmetal is made by GM, they can't charge that back to a supplier. If there is a supplier they can charge it to, there won't be much hassle from GM customer care. They make money when they get to charge things back to the supplier.
I don't have an answer for the brake lines and stuff though. I did have to call GM Customer Care once cause the ***** of a service manager said my blower changed the RPM of the belt accesories (no underdrive pulley), and didn't want to work on my power steering. He also said he wasn't going to replace some lights that had condensation in them cause of that. THe next time I went in, they were fixed.

like the other member said above, your would have scuffed cylinders and other slight problems, maybe burn soem oil or something. To throw rods you have to have a seroius problem like lack of oil presure. GEN III engines are also know to have some oiling issues. Try another dealership if they give you heck. Sounds like you have a "boot-leg" dealership or at least service department.

There must be some kind of incentive not to do warranty work from GM.
