Default 05 L33 5.3 W/3k miles and No Slap.

No slap yet. I changed to Mobil1 @ 500 miles.
I have had an 02 and a 03 with 5.3's and they both started slapping \ ticking at the first oil change.

I found a way to get rid(hide) that nasty slap noise. All you need is a p1sc. You cant hear anything over that bitch.

I beleive the piston slap issue can be traced to the tolerances (both dimensionaly and circularity) used to manufacture the pistons, and the fact that pistons are not round when cold. The engine warms up and the pistons "grow" into a more circular shape relative to what the GM engineers deem to be optimal. This is for sealing, reduced friction and compression. Some motors will knock more than others because some pistons will be higher or lower in the manufactures tolerance band. I have visited the company that makes pistons for the truck motors as well as other makes pistons and saw the process first hand and also disscussed the piston slap issue with their enginners. They were aware of the issues and said GM is changing things to account for this but did not say how. YES I TOO HAVE SOME PISTON SLAP........
