I remember why I bought the 4.8 now. Next time, I will not worry about mpg though.

I get about 17.5 with 3.90's and 28.5'' tires. That's babying it everywhere.

I dont know how some of you guys do so well on fuel economy. My right foot causes poor mileage.

Between 13-14.5 mixed. Seem to get worse mileage when the weather is nice and I have the windows down and I can hear my exhaust.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies!!Still seems to vary a lot, looks like the 5.3 will do a good bit better under normal driving and I know the 2500hd is a lot heavier then the 1500.I do a lot of driving with no load too, I just like the added cubes of the 6.0.I noticed one truck with a blower was getting real good mileage I wonder which would do the best turbo or a blower? Also noted one with tune to get good mileage and thats interesting too!I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR RESPONDING!! I usually post in the ls1,internal or external sections, again thanks!! FASTONE!! :

I drive mostly backroads at like, 30-45mph. I'm definitely not the norm here, but I could pull off 22+mpg on certain occasions, before the cam.

My true highway mileage wasn't ever that great. Low 18's with the cruise on under 70mph.

After the cam here - I haven't done any backroad mpg logs - the cam just started running right for me the other day.

I made a few small highway trips, and preliminary results there look better than before. One trip I averaged 19.1. Definitely a new best there.

Thats pretty good marc w,I ve been reading you post on the small duration cam, interesting idea!I believe I could get pretty good mpg from a new truck as I drive fairly easy and try to save a little gas if I can,I get around 14.5 with my 5.7 tbi z71 with 32 tires and I do alot of just running around driving, not that great for gas mileage. Thanks for your reply and keep us posted on your truck progress.

16mpg is pretty average per tank for me..consisting of 75% city, 25% highway. I just break 400miles per tank.
