I run the regular copper TR-55's and change them every 30K. The oems were AC Delco in my Tahoe. After about 15K, 2 of the platinum disks had fallen off and went god knows where...hopefully out the exhaust.
I found I got a smoother idle with the new plugs and I can't see leaving plugs in an aluminium head for 100K...can you say stripped threads???
IMO, the only benefit to platinum is longevity. I run copper because I don't mind changing them and my truck runs better with them.
Oh yeah, my local Napa carries them at $1.60 a plug.
