I would go with the larger engine too... a 6.0 H.O.

I would guess it would depend on your future upgrades. If you will be limited I'd say the LS1, if not go for the better heads and cubes.

cubes + ion are always a winner.


I doubt you'll see a gas milage difference between all the engines for displacement. the LQ9, 4.8 and 5.3 all get similar gas milage. so much power is needed to move these trucks that the frictional/pumping losses become negligable.

compression will help though.

Did you say that you already had the LS1? If so, I would just go that route. No sense in spending more money for little gain IMO.

I voted for the 6.0. If you could find a great deal on one, I would go that route before dropping between the rails. I would do the same, but I've got someone putting a lot of work into a 5.3, and it was a great deal.
