Next time you try to record mileage fill the tank zero out the trip odometer or record your odometer dive like 100 or more miles fill the tank and then divide the mileage by how many gallons to full, the guage is very innacurate.

I would do open element, the benifit of ram air is very debatable

No, I zerod the counter out. I havent filled the truck and done the calculations yet. Im just going by what I remember it getting with the 22''s on it. Ill probably do the open element (5'' hole saw to side and front of airbox) since thats easier than ram air. Less fab lol.

Hey if I could get 20 in city outta my 02' sonoma with a stock 5.7l vortec save for swap headers, exhaust, intake and efans, why isnt 18 achievable with this truck? Not to mention that s10 had 26.5'' tires with 3.42 gears.

Gladly pass the crack, if you'd give it up! lol jj man

I'm a full bolt-on (minus header...just gutted cats and x-pipe exhaust), 4.56gears, 305/50/20(rear)

my average is 16.9MPG (stop-go/city highway)...I see around 20-22MPG on the highway...

never had my foot in it to begin with. the better mileage gain came from puttin stockers back on and takin off the 22s. when i drive the trans shifts before2100rpm, not driving it hard at all. bet that goat does good, hey if i had a 6spd i bet itd do better than 17mpg too. not to mention as you said the weight factor

No one seems to mention, but in some states almost all gas stations are 10% ethenol, like here in MN. Factor that and that in the north its very cold right now and you could be loosing 4mpg right there.

i live in mn with oxygenated gas, 14mpg is the best average i can get out of a 2000 5.3 ext cab 4wd. ill bet that would be 17-18avg if i was driving in warm climate with non oxy fuel.
