Default "Poor Mans LS6 heads" help

im getting a set of LS2 valves and springs, i want to have my LM7 heads milled to bump compression a little make it around 10:1 or so... How much should i have them milled and what head gasket should i use?? i also plan to have the bowls blended, mildly pocket ported and unshrouded around the valves, as well as a valve job for the larger LS2 valves... then theyll be assembled with the LS2 springs and all new seals/hardware of course... my combo will be as in my signature, just a mild 5.3L; these heads, '05 LS2 cam, stock intake and throttlebody (probably smooth and polish it when i get a chance) the Ebay headers when i can get them, magnaflow cat back exhaust, LS1 fans, UD crank pulley, 4" CAI, and a custom tune (havent decided where to get it yet but probably the cheapest i can get, possibly nelson? unless someone knows a cheaper place?) Next question is: Approx how much HP should this combo be good for?? i know it depends on the condition of the engine and every one is different, so lets just disregard the variables and say on average what it should make im hoping for around 375-380 @ the crank and as close to 14s in the 1/4 as possible(i have 3.73s and stock size tires)... Lastly how much difference will the trailblazer 4.3L torque converter make compared to my stock converter?? how much higher will it stall behind an LM7 equipped as such?? thanks for any and all help... and if anyone has a spare set of LM7 heads laying around that they dont want i will take them, i would like to be able to run my truck untill the heads get done if possible as it is used everyday either by my wife or me

In my opinion, you should just leave the heads alone and spend some money on a better cam/spring/push rod package. The Comp 212/218 "low lift" is a really kick-*** cam that will give your truck more power and torque than the LS2 cam. I'll look around and see if I can find you a good cam on the cheap...

214/224, this cam would work well for you, imo

216/220, another cam that would perform well

TR224, same cam I am running. Makes great power in just about anything. It might leave you wanting more low-end torque, though.

Beatdown, thanks for all that work i really do appreciate the time you took to search for me, those springs seem like a real good deal as well as the 225$ cam, but i am now getting, 55k LS2 cam, springs & valves for 80$... wont the cam make more power with the modded heads?? it would be cheaper to go with just a cam, and easier. and the truck would only be down for a day... but the cheapest scenario with all those deals is $225 for the cam then say $300 for springs, gaskets & timing chain($525)... in my scenario im gonna spend $80 for my crappy ls2 cam and springs plus $250 for gaskets & timing chain so for $330 ill still have the valves to upgrade the heads later on... i totally agree that i should use a better cam, but for the deal im getting i dont see it being beaten unless we can find a REAL cam for $100 with the springs... why should i upgrade the pushrods? stability? should i just get stock length hardened PRs? again thanks for the help you have proved yourself an invaluable resource and i sure wish i was closer to DE lol
