Question ported maf ends? what happens when used?

What problems are there on trucks when descreening and porting mafs?
Can u attach it right up against air filter lid, so there is no turn of air into maf?
I would think doing this would fix any metering problems with modded maf?

There's no need to port a 85mm truck MAF,the ported ends are for a an F-body that uses a smaller MAF,descreening your MAF tends to lean out fuel mixtures which sometimes increases performance on a stock truck.Your best bet is to leave the screen alone.

Oh, i didnt know all trucks had bigger maf sensor, i was hoping to cash in on leaner A/F, more timing, and use colder thermostat. Kind of like poor mans supertune, by porting maf and TB. Wont this still pay off with 93 octane gas?

I think it would give you those resuts. Problems lies in how much to port. Maybe you can take small steps and log the results as you go. Log it as is, then without screen, then with minor porting. Of course if you ever do any tuning you'll need to compensate for the modded MAF.
