Agree and the tow haul usually does a pretty good job of this even stock. If you use it lol. I've had a couple of friends that burn stuff up and you wonder how they do it, then ride with them while the pull a heavy *** load up a hill with tow/haul off and it struggling at 1800 rpm in over drive lol. Then it all makes sense. But I fully agree and that's good advice man.

A few of the biggest crutches with truck tunes:

1. TQ management
2. Burst Knock
3. Overly sensitive knock sensor settings

For me and because I have the 80e, I turned off TQ management.

I use the 02-04 z06 knock sensor values and make the recovery from knock react faster.

I disable burst knock.

I’ll take screenshot of this and talk to my tuner about modifying my knock settings, and I can’t recall how much to management he pulled out. I’ll go over all that come time to tune, after I finish the swap

Before you strap the heads on, have a valve job done (3 or 5 angle) and a bowl blend and you'll pick up quite a bit from that alone. Shouldn't be very expensive.
