no one is saying there aren't gains to be had. What is being said is that the gains will be minimal at best until you open up the smallest area, and the risk of screwing something up is pretty high.

Head porting relies on completely different principles, combined with port volume. A smooth straight flow path is probably the most important thing, but requires volume to really be effective. And not just straight volume, port shape for velocity is important as well. There is no comparison b/t head porting and TB porting.

This isn't a picture I took, got it off google images.

But this is exactly what my Shaner throttle body looked like when I put it on, the polish looks perfect.

IIRC trumm did a back to back dyno comparo a few years ago and gained a few hp from a p&p throttle body but lost one or two lb/ft of torque. Nothing substantial thpugh. If you can do it cheaply or even free, and it results in better throttle response, then it's worth it IMO.

OPENING UP THE INTAKE AREA! You are NOT taking in any more air until you OPEN up the effective throttle area. Anything else is snake oil and will be a negligible gain at best.
But hey, I am an idiot.
I won't call you an idiot but you certainly talk without doing your homework. The 4.8,5.3,6.0,LS1 throttle bodies are 75mm at the blade. But did you know they neck down to about 70-72mm before the blade so porting effectively makes them 3-5mm bigger without putting a bigger blade in them? Not only that but the half shaft and bump stop mod help flow as well. And you are also wrong that you must increase the I.D. to increase flow. Shape before the I.D. section is proven to help flow. Carb velocity stacks are popular for a reason.

What are you talking about.... how the "TB processes the air"? The TB doesn't process any air.

So before you spread inaccurate information maybe you should understand WHAT IS BEING PORTED in the first place.

Ok just installed my Shanner ported cable throttlebody and took it around the block. I definatly noticed a difference! I'm sure it has to do with the fact that my old was dirty as **** and it has the bumpstop carved out, but never the less I bolted it on and( I k ow this isn't even 90% accurate), accordng to my I phone app my before time was 13.3 quarter now it says 12.6 no I'm going to go on a limb here and say it gave me .3 sec improvment. This is ONLY a guess. It definatly was faster from the seat of my pants!!! I would definatly recomsnd a SHANNER tb!!!

Hmmm... my iPhone app is detecting some b/s

Kidding, but I wouldn't put too much merit into it, that seems wayyyy off for only a ported t/b
