Default Possible misfire?

Is it possible to have a misfire just in overdrive? I just had a new tranny built and driving home it really runs rough but only in overdrive even doing 60 kms when its in overdrive (cags crap). If I kick it down or drive in 3rd then I don't notice it. The tranny builder thinks its a misfire, so I daid i'll look into it and if not he said to bring it back. I still have to hook up the scanner and see but I don't have time untill the middle of the week.

If it was fine when you brought it in, and now there is a problem, I have to think that the shop did something. I don't know much about transmissions, or what could have gone wrong mechanically to make you feel like you have a misfire, but if its not throwing codes, then I bet its in the tranny.

stupid question - did they pull the motor out the top to put in the new tranny?
they may have damaged a part of your fuel ignition system (plugs, wires, coils, etc)

never mind then. have you checked you plugs and wires to see if it's coincidence and have you actually checked for trouble codes?

I don't see how you'd have a misfire only in overdrive...I could see only under load or something like that. Maybe your torque converter is locking and unlocking? Did you put a higher stall converter in there? I believe that irratic tcc operation may occur if not tuned for it.

Turned out to be a bad coil that would really act up under load. Changed it and now all's good
