PRC Dual Golds w/super 7 locks - life? how many miles?
Is there a short life on these? I'm being told that they're only good for 15K miles. This is the first that I've heard. I've got some noobee telling me other wise.
Sure, big cams tend to be harder on everything . . . I know that it's a given.
The search on tech is down, or I'd search it myself.

I don't see why the life would be any shorter on the springs. Who would say that and what is their logic behind it? A heavier spring will add more stress to the rockers along with the pushrod and lifter and maybe accelerate the wear on your camshaft but this is all relative to how you drive, oil used, cam profile, etc. I run duals and have 4K miles on my current set, on my big block chevy have 20K successful miles on them without problems.

Just a new b that doesn't know crap . . . . but I had nothing to back it up either . . . .
I'll see where it goes

What retainers and locks are you running? The PRC kit has never been offered with a Super 7 setup.
It should not decrease the life expectancy of the springs any though. Those big locks weigh a bit more, but it's not enough to make any real difference to anything on the average street/strip combo!

I ran Patriot Golds on my SS. Close to 25K miles and they had only dropped a few psi vs when installed. Previous 918's were down 20psi after only 10K miles. Proper way is to check IH and open and closed pressures upon install and after every 10K miles. This will tell you alot. My hard run marine engines that see nothing but WOT after warmup needs new springs every 200-250 hours. That's when spring psi starts to drastically drop.

It's not that they're too much spring, but they're heavier than needed. That dual spring, and heavier retainer, etc weight a good bit more than a beehive. If you can control the valves with a beehive, that's the way to go! 918's would take care of you, or the PAC 1218's too. That's the route I went on my previous car with a similar camshaft.
