Predator won't correct my speedometer

Predator won't correct my speedometer
First I backed up my stock tune, successfully.
Then I installed Diablo's perf tune, successfully.
Then I adjusted the Diablo tune to change for my gears.
I set the Axle ratio to 4.10 and stock tire size to 235/75/16 and actual tire size to 235/75/16.
It isn't correcting my speedometer, given the numbers I'm getting, the truck thinks I still have 3.42 gears.
The only other stuff I changed was the speed limit to 110 mph, the mph shift points to 40, 75, and 110 (from 255! wtf?), the rpm shift points to 5600 on all gears, and the absolute rev limit to 5900 on all gears.
WTF did I do wrong? These predators are sounding like bigger and bigger pieces of **** every day.

Return it, get HPP3 and wait for a revised verson of the Predator. I was serously considerin the Predator too. HOwever, after hearing all these horror stories about fried pcm's I just got me a used hypoertech.

Re: Predator won't correct my speedometer
there is a known problem with the predator about this. It will not be fixed until the next firmware update which hopefully will be out sometime soon. You can go here http://www.runninwiththedevil.com/faq.htm and see if setting the tire size like it says fixes your problem.
It didn't for me infact it made the abs and brake light come on while driving. I had to get a custom tune to correct for my gears. I just went through this 2 days ago. I went from 3.42 to 3.73.
As far as the fried pcms I have used mine at least 30 times on my truck and have gone through at least 5-6 custom tunes with no problem except for the gear ratio problem.
2003 shoot me a pm if you have any more questions.

Re: Predator won't correct my speedometer
Mine is dead on. I run shorter tires, a non stock gear and made the adjustments with the Predator and according to the real time data, it's right. I also paced my wife with her crusie sat at 60mph and it was right.

Re: Predator won't correct my speedometer
Ok, last night I read around on this site and I determined that changing the tire size might work for correcting the speedometer.
I didn't think it would work since it didn't for you, Arctic.
Thing is, I was getting an ABS light and Brake light before I even messed with the Predator caused, I'm sure, by going from 3.42s to 4.10s.
I figured out, given my 4.10 final ratio, .70 4th gear, and 29.88" tires that an equivalent rpm/mph setup would be 3.42 (which the Predator still thinks I have) final ratio, .70 4th gear, and 24.93" tires.
Now all I needed to do was to figure out what size of tire would come out to about 24.93". The closest I could get, given the settings allowed for in the Predator is 285/40/16, which turns out to be 24.98".
I had to build a table to get that, it took me a few hours. What really pisses me off, besides the gear ratio setting not working, is that if the predator let me put in 24.93" tires, rather than asking for the metric sizes of the tires, I could've saved alot of time, and been even more accurate.
As it is now, I think its within about 1mph maybe 2 at the most (its within about 10-15 rpms at any given mph). Of course I don't know how much slippage a stock torque converter should have, so all I've been going by is the theoretical mph at the certain rpms.
Anyway given my actual gears and tires, I should be going about 62mph at 2000 rpms. After driving, at 2000 rpms I am at about 61 mph so its more or less dead on.
I'm still not pleased though, this is a cheap fix for a very expensive tool. So you say that the next version of software should fix the problem?

Re: Predator won't correct my speedometer
Yes you will. That is why I haven't updated mine to a one of the 3 later versions. I have one of the originals. Ranwalk, I think what you are talking about is the custom tunes. The update I'm talking about is a firmware update adding new features and correcting old ones. For example I don't have the knock detection in diagnostics. I would have to send it in in order to get it.
