Default Problem with blower motor/fan.

My blower that moves air through the cab makes a racket when it is colder then 50F outside. When I turn it on it makes a rattle tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat noise. it did this last winter and the dealer said to wait to see if it goes away. Now it is back with the colder weather. What causes this and how hard is it to replace the motor for the fan? It is a 2003 Silverado with a 5.3. Does the dealer have to rip apart my whole dash at all? I hope not!

Other then the noise it makes it works great and really moves air but it is very noisey and not exceptable. Thanks for any help/info!

Replacing it is easier than the old body style. It mounts with the motor facing down under the glove compartment. Once you remove the cover you just rotate it counter-clockwise and it comes down.

That is good to know! I would hate to have to take apart the whole dash!
