Default Problems with spinning accessories too fast with high shift points?

I had an aftermarket alt that lit on fire last week just a few days after I raised my shift points from 5900-6300 rpm. I now have a Dephi 145 amp in there, and I want to go back to the higher shifts, but I am worried that I will overspin something again. Has anyone ever had any issues spinning any of the accessories too fast and having it fail?

Nope ... not me.

How high are you talking about spinning? Just 6300? I think it should all be fine. The aftermarket alt may not have taken high revs into consideration though.

Hmmm ok maybe it was just a fluke then. I will probably put the factory-size pulley on the aftermarket alt and slow it down a little, then spin the motor faster again. I'm gonna try and run a dual-alt setup, gotta fab some brackets up and see if I can squeeze the second alt in.

Did you make it to your dad's this past weekend?
