Default Project Concept - Duramax K-Blazer

I just got the green light from my wife to build a non-daily driver. I'm blessed enough financially to have some good options. My idea is a '92 K-Blazer with a Duramax Diesel.

Now here's my problem. Chevy doesn't offer a crate Duramax. That creates the following set of questions:

A. Is Chevy planning on putting together a Duramax crate engine in the near future?
B. If not, to avoid the $18,000 it would take to put one together from scratch, how easy is it to find a wrecked Duramax equipped rig with one?
C. Are there any other options in getting a Duramax engine?

This forum is my Mecca. Don't let me down

I'd think a salvage yard would be your cheapest option, but I've never looked for a DMAX before.

Yeah keep an eye on ebay for complete DMax pullouts. I dunno how'd you get the fuel system setup but a DMax in a K-Blazer would be cool!

i'm doing the same thing, but with a 95 tahoe, i'm looking into the salvage yards for a wrecked truck so i can get all of the electronics, transmission and all the other accessories needed for the swap. the only thing i can see being a problem is the allison transmission hitting the floor, i'm already planning on having to modify the tunnel in the floor.

as for why a duramax, i have an 02 ccsb 2500hd that runs 14.5 @ 7200lb.
now what will the same setup run @ 4500 - 5000 lb? (not sure what a tahoe weighs)
