pulley squeeky

wondering if anyone else has the same prob. during cold start up my pulleys squeel for about 5 seconds, i think one of my pulleys is freezing, cold meaning 20*F pulleys are all stock. thanx nick

I had pretty much the same problem (annoying squeak when cold...besides the wife ) when I was still under warranty...they replaced the upper idler pulley and threw a new belt on and the noise went away (still have the wife though)

thanks guys i actually got my pullies wet the other day while washing my truck and found out it is just ice and water makeing the noise. its annoying glad it dosent do it anywhere but at home.

All you have to do is take the pulley off that's making the noise, take a real slim flat blade screwdriver, pop the plastic caps off either sid of the bearing (they say they're sealed and non-serviceable but they are) once the caps are off you'll see the ball bearings in there. Take a gob of your favorite wheelbearing grease, pack it in there, tap your plastic caps in place, reinstall noisy pulley and you're back in business with a quiet one. Dirty pully, done dirt cheap

ok so you can take them apart sweet i didn't wanna break it and have to buy a new one i soaked it in lucas oil in the oven to warm the oil and it helped some but not all so i'll try that thanks.

Yup they come apart. Get setup on a nice work bench and take the thinnest flat blade screwdriver you can find and a lightweight ballpeen hammer and tap around the edge of the dust caps lightly trying to pry the plastic off.
