pusher fan install
Hi guys.
im going to install the fan so that it turns on with the key and off when i shut dawn the truck but cant seem to find a power source in the engine bay any one did this and where is a good place to tap into

First off, you'll be better off with pullers. As far as power, use a 30a relay, inline 25 fuse at the battery, get power from the battery and turn it on from an accesory in the fuse box. I located my on/off switches in the cab. I leave one switch on that comes on at ignition and the other is totally at my control when ever I need it. I am using one of the sources for a rear window defrost relay for one since I don't have it. And the other just uses the batt for power to the switch too. That's a good tip. You can also look for an unused fuse at the UNDER HOOD FUSE PANEL. Once you pop the cover off the housing pops off too and the fuse panel just snaps in place. You can locate an unused fuse and tap into it. I'd make this a solder connection FOR SURE. Remember the control circuit (relay coil) doesn't have to be a high current circuit, but the LOAD (FAN MOTOR)circuit DOES. The fan motor on my Flexalite electric fan says 11 amps, but they rate it at 25. I'm sure they mean it draws 11 amp constant, but pulls up to 25 at start up. If you can find a 25 amp fuse in the panel under the hood you can use that one for your load circuit. Check to be sure the wire you plan to tap into is only HOT when your motor is running. A relay is always a good idea in a circuit like this and buy a relay that is rated at a few amps OVER the rating of the LOAD (fan motor). That way you won't burn out the relay contacts in a few months. A puller IS better than a pusher, but if your using it as a backup fan or a supplemental fan it's OK. Just don't try that as your primary fan and remove your clutch type mechanical fan or you'll have overheating problems next summer.

i just got me an LT1 fan setup and a small 10" fan for the pusher = colder AC.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> i cant take it its too hard to install ill be taking it to a pro soon
