i am looking at putting a cam in my truck. would any of these be good for a 5.3 with all stock internals, intake, throttle body, l/t's and exhaust and all freemods? oh yeah, by the way this is gonna be a daily driver. i do like some attention at the stop lights, so i want some lope. what kind of valvetrain would you reccomend?
224/224 581/581 @ 112 lsa 228/232 588/575 @ 113 lsa 232/236 575/578 @ 114 lsa. would any of these be good driveability with a 3000 stall?

More than likely, all of them will be a little too much for a daily driver. Look for a TR220 are something in that range. I am looking for a used 212/218 for my truck.

You can get away with the 224/224 with some tuning, the other two are too big IMO. You can also get a cam custom ground for the same price as a new one, unless you are getting a good deal on the ones you listed. In my 5.3, my last cam was a 218/224 on 113 LSA. I drove it in my dd 4wd with no stall. With any of the cams you listed, you will need a 2800+ stall, 3000 would be much better.

Please consider your gears in this issue. If you move your powerband up, that is great and you'll make more power. But there is always a catch- it wont help without more gears.
If two cars have identical torquebands but one is 500 rpm higher, that one will have more power but will be the same in the 1/4, if anything slower.
Keep the powerband under 6k IMO. Get your power from torque in a truck. That means good heads, nice lift and appropriate durrations.

I dont remember the specs, but it made good power from about 2500 onn up to 6500 where my rev limiter was. I didnt have a stall, but my 60' times slowed down, so I would suggest getting a stall. I had a wait4me mail order tune, Jesse got it pretty damn close.
