Question About Comp Cams 918 Springs
I used them in my old camaro with no problems.
Anyways, the ones in my camaro were black with a blue stripe.
The ones that came with my thunder racing cam kit are silver without any stripes. Did I get the bad batch?
I will post some pics tomorow along with the production number.

as i recall, pac used to make them for comp and all was well. then comp switched makers and made some black with some color stripe that were problematic. comp then came out with the black with blue stripe and those were good. comp's most recent and supposably best spring now are the silver ones which have some material improvements. hope this helps and good luck with your project, rob.

Here's a quote from someone back in 07:
The problem was originally with the blue stripe ones, but most of the problems occurred around 2007...grey is the new style.

didnt have a problem with the ones in my camaro. 25k miles shifting at 6700. Hit the rev limiter regualrly.
Glad to know the grey ones are even better. Its for the tr220 .551" cam so it should be fine.

thats good to know. Im just a lil paranoid cuz of issues in the past. If they break its bye bye motor. Its going in a 4.8L which everyone considers a boat anchor so if they toast the motor, its a good excuse for a LQ9

What's the going rate on a set of Comp 918 springs these days anyway? You can get a set of 16 PAC 1218 springs for $122.95 at SDPC.
