Default question about e-fans...

first of all i wanted to know if the ls1 fans or the 05 silverado fans were better if there is any difference,,and also i know you have to program your pcm so it will recognize them but is there a way i can rig up a toggle switch or sumin? and if so, how would i wire it in? thanks alot!

You're not going to need a new radiator using the LS1 fans. Although, the 05 fans are a stock item for a truck, whereas the LS1 fans are not. You'll have to make your own decision.

Yes, you can use a toggle switch if you want. Instead of grounding to the PCM pin connector, take that wire to the switch (of course the switch will have to be grounded). I have some schematic links on my cardomain site for the relay wiring.

I spent alot of $$$ on my 2005 Fan setup but I like it, Clean and factory appearing.
If you can find a good set of Lt1 Fans than go for it. Others here have had good sucess. I'm not sure what the cfm comparisions are but when the 2005 fans are both on high you don't need much more air moving through!!

If you go with a harness from Nelson.performance you can tap into his pcm lead and provide a ground with a toggle, Thats all the pcm does. Or you can tap into the ac lead and provide a small 12+ source with a toggle.
I think his harness is top notch. Everything is very close and doesn't lay all over the engine bay. Cmpared to My buddies Pcm for less harness I like the Nelson's setup alot better.

If you build the harness yourself than a few 30 amp relays and a swicth should do fine.

Mine is wired into a manual adjusted thermostat. Need to change that one of these days and hook it up to the pcm.
Use the search button on advanced search and you'll find out how to wire it.
