Default Question about gutting cats

By gutting my cats (04 silverado rcsb 5.3) will it screw anything up like throwing up codes or run like crap? I have a spare set of cats that I was going to gut, but I heard that the 02 sensors will cause the ecu to freak out and cause the truck to run like crap.

You can get someone to disable the O2's and cat codes in your tune, or just buy O2 simulators.

I wanna gut mine or just have them cut out completely and have straight pipes welded in place. I was thinking about getting the corsa catback though and im not sure how it would sound with gutted cats? I am also planning to get a set of LT headers in the future too.

I could deal with 5 or hp and some more noise. Plus I heard the motor breathes better.
