I'm about to tune a truck for the first time. The owner wants to stay on 87 octane. How much timing is everyone adding without needing more octane to combat pinging/detonation?
Also, what shift points would be best with a 219/222 .563/.566 115+4 cam and stock heads? We will not put the truck on a dyno to be tuned for a couple of months, so I'm looking for safe numbers right now.

I would say anywhere from 2-4* across the board for timing. Do you have any scanning capabilities? You could add timing till you see kr then back off 2*.
Is this cam in a 5.3?? If so it is probablly going to want to shift in the mid 6K region. I have mine set @ 6100 with my 214/216 113+4.
