Default question bout engine swap and other crap

ok, so ive got sum money saved up, i got a 5.3L 2001 silverado ext cab, okay, so what does a 5.3L push? i figure about 290....no more then 300 right? well i was thinkin about puttin in a 6.0 in my truck, that pushes 345 right? right, ok so my point is it really worth spending 2000+ dollars for 50 more hp? i know alot of people on here do 6.0 swaps, but i just cant see myself spending that much money for 50 hp, i could get that much hp with pretrty much a cam and tune and for half the price, and still have enough for LT's, so just give me sum opinions fellas, i wunna know what yall think, thx,

uuummmm a 5.3 to the wheels stock at most would be 250, a lq9 6.0 will put down 280 to 300, but the tq is what your after with the more cubes. Not only 50 hp more but 50 more ft. lbs of tq goes along ways. and your right you can get a cam, springs, long tubes, tune, intake, elect. fans, u/d pulley and you will have to put all this in to save labor charges and in the end you will still be slower than putting the 6.0 in your truck lol.

Best thing to do is go ahead and buy stuff for the 5.3 that'll work w/the 6.0, and then when the engine goes, put the lq9 plus the bolt on's.

The 5.3 in 2001 is rated at 285 hp. You can do a bunch of bolt-ons to the 5.3, but if you get the bug like most people on here do, it won't be enough. I have done just about everything I can bolt-on wise to my 5.3 and I am still thinking about going to the LQ9. I have the Radix with a 3" pulley at 10 psi, Vinci Ultra-Torque cam, 1.8 roller rockers, gutted cats, Corsa, e-fans, Nelson tune, Meth injection and have run a 13.86 @ 98, and I am estimating somewhere between 480-500 crank HP, but never had a dyno done. Its not enough. I want the LQ9. Bigger motor is a better platform for mods. Fortunately everything I have done so far will swap over, so when I get the motor I should be all set. If you think you are going to continually mod the motor to be faster and faster, I'd say go with the bigger one. If you have a goal and will be content once you get there, then stay with the smaller motor and bolt-ons.
