Default Question on carberating LS1 base engine

Thought i would ask so pros a tech question. i am turning my 4.8 into a 5.7 by boreing it and swaping 5.7 rotateing assembly. leaveing 4.8 heads. i do not have a big buget and i still dont know how well this will work.

My question is if i did all that or an engine swap and bolted on edelbrock's carb setup, would my 4l60e trans work. what all is there to do(pcm flash, throttle cable, or will the electronic's still be used.

Thanks for all your help

Why do you want to go carb? GM ls fuel system has complete tune-ability and tons of options + eff. If your on a budget i think a salvage 6.0 swap would be a much better bet.
The 60E relies on the computer for shifting, firmness etc hence electronic. I think you are going to have all kinds of tuning obstacles to overcome without the stock fuel injection system not in the loop for the computer but i could be wrong.

If you did go carb, you woudl still need to supply a MAP, MAF and TPS signal, all of which are doable.

However it will be much cheaper to use your existing intake manifold, and get it tuned. if you switch to carb, you will need buy a carb, carb intake,

Take my advice, install your engine with your stock intake and fuel injection and get a simple PCM tune done.

the EFI approach will 100% be more suitable for your budget constraints.

NO CARB, NO CARB... Would you put a flat head in a vette?

I was in the same boat making decisions on powering my '76. I decided (I think) that Im going to use the Vic Jr EFI intake.

To answer your question though. Painless wiring (probably others too) makes a stand alone 4l60e controller, as well as others.

that conflicts with a "limited budget", but more power to you...
