Question for LS1 swaps!

Question for LS1 swaps!
I have been thinking about saving up money (it will take awhile) and droping in a H/C LS1, with all the bolts on nessesary to support it (probably would even have to get the 4l80e to hold the power I am looking for) . I just want mid-low 12's on engine and to trap at around ~108-110. I was wondering if this would be fesiable. I know I could use a 6.0L, but the LS1 just seems very appealing to me, plus most people running 12's with a 6.0L are running S/C or Nitrous. What do you guys think, it would be a long way off just throwing out some ideas to get an early start. I would like to keep it N/A, maybe...maybe use Nitrous.

Yeah man go with a 5.7 and see what the fbody guys are using, get some good bolt ons, Nice set of heads, Good Cam, Headers, LS1 Fans, maybe even an electric water pump and see what kind of rwhp you make, Yeah prolly need a 4l80e too, Do something different and if none of that suits ya, still throw a radix on there and make big damn power

I see Farmtruc and he is trapping at around 109..I think (in his sig). Does anyone know what he has done to get that with his LS1? He is also using the older pre-99 body style scsb, which weights more than the 99+ scsb, right?

Either of your choices is good. Prices on 6.0L motors is lower than 5.7L due to the iron/aluminum blocks but cubes are good for torque.
One option you may consider is boring out a 5.3L block from 3.78" to 3.900". Then have the 5.3 heads ported and install some bigger intake/exh valves. This combo opens up a whole new world of aftermarket engine performance parts. I am doing this right now ( just got the block back from machine shop ) and have stocked up on replacement parts online. I will finish up with everything running around $2000 and a fresh 5.7L motor with zero miles. You can find used 5.7 engines around but they are still getting a premium. The 5.3 engines are dirt cheap ( got my long block for $300 ) and very plentiful.
I know, lots of people ask "Why" build an iron block 5.7? Just to prove I can! Also, I find the garage and tools more interesting than TV these days, unless you count SpeedTV and Superbowl halftime shows.

It does seem like the 5.7L are getting a premium still, which isnt good for me. However, they seem to be pushing over 420 rwhp N/A. I know it is possible for a 6.0L to do this, but it seems like there isnt anyone doing it (besides Nitrous or Forced Induction), or that I have seen N/A. I have talked about it before on here, and people seem to say that they can get 350 rwhp with a cam and usual bolt ons with the 6.0L, but they seem to keep the stock heads. Are the stock heads holding back power on a N/A 6.0L build up?
