Default A question in the meantime.

My truck is going in for a tune-up (bleeding lines, break pads, etc..) and probably a new factory muffler, as the previous owner deleted the stock one and welded a straight pipe in the muffler's place. Now, I liked the way my truck sounded without the muffler...and the new factory one will tone it down.

What are some of the cheapest performance mufflers or glasspacks that I can add to my truck?

If you liked the way it sounded without the muffler weld in a cut-out before the stock or aftermarket muffler. When you want it loud pull the cap off the cut-out and when you want it quiet put it back on!

I want something that my mother won't yell at me for. My mom will let me do all of the things I want to it as long as it stays legal.

then get a cutout and you get the best of both worlds, quiet when you need it, obnoxiously loud when you want it

Hm, I assumed the cut-out from GMCHammer was meaning to cut a peice of the pipe before the muffler...but I am seeing something different.

Can you please elaborate on the cut-out? Is it a little peice of metal that you open and close in the piping for the sound differences?

That sounds like a good idea, but are those legal?
