Question for those who have Nelson's Tune?
I have a 2000 Silverado with a Borla Exhaust, ASP pulley, KN FPIK, and a very crappy Superchips tune. It is a RCSB 2wd with the 5.3. Had it dynoed it had 255 rwhp. From what I hear the Superchips tune is one of the worst programmers to buy. I decided before I get a cam I want to buy a Nelsons Tune to see how it would help. I have 275 60 16 Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires. At a stand still they will only chirp a little, but sometimes they will chirp on the 1-2 shift. I want to be able to spin them very easily on any kind of pavement. I figured the slow off the line sluggish feeling is TQ management, If I have nelson remove 80 percent of TQ management should I be able to smoke them at will?

If you remove 80 percent of TQM i think you'll need a shift kit and maybe some new servos. I THINK most people do 50% with stock trannies otherwise you'll fry it. Honestly ive never had a problem with smoking my tires... well actually it is a problem. And that's with 285's. If you're into buying new rubber try stall brakin it and just mash it. That's just my 2 cents, wait for someone who has done business with allen.

I have one. I am not really in the same category as you though. I haven't had any problems, that's about the only comparo I can give. I got my tune with a 3.0" pulley, so its a little diff, there was obviously a huge gain.

I know when I got my Nelson tune with 60%TM removed on my 03 ECSB 4.8 with the only other mods being exhaust and CAI the tune allowed me to beak my tires loose but not realy smoke them. Then I went with the Transgo shift kit+vette servo and tranny cooler and had Allen remove all my TM I could burn my tires pretty good! Since then I've switched from a 3.42 gear to a 4.10 and lets just say if I want to melt my tires at will and I mean at will like shifting to 2nd I can melt my tires!
