Question Questions about heads????

I'm going to get a turbo sooner or later but when i do i'm also gonna have the bottom end of the engine rebuilt, and i figured while the engine is apart i would go ahead and throw on some CNC port and polished heads too. Now the question is which head package i should go with. And the ones that I'm debating against are my stock heads (Ported and polished) or the LQ9 heads from the H.O. 6.0l(Ported and polished)????

their is not a difference between the lq9 and the lq4. same heads. I would just stick witht he stock 5.3 and port and polsih them. their's something about the 5.3 going with bigger heads and the valves are to big. just have the 5.3 done(since you already have them it shold be cheaper and work great.

Go with a cheap stage 1 ported LS1 head. It will lower you to just under 9:1 CR and you'll gain some flow. With a turbo, I doub't that you'll see tons more power going from stage 1 heads to a stage 2 head.

LS6 heads have a better port design and a smaller chamber size. But you'd benefit from the larger chamber of the LS1 head (if you go turbo or blower). A set of ported LS1 heads will outflow a set of stock LS6 heads. LS6 heads are expensive, LS1 heads are not. Just get 1999 or newer LS1 heads (centerbolt valve cover like the trucks).
