questions on ls6 intake on 6.0 motor
This isn't actually a question for my truck but my friend has a 2004 SS silverado and he was wondering of the diffuculty and possible performance gains of putting the ls6 intake on the 6.0 motor. His basic questions and concerns were if the fuel rails or any of the other smog or other necessary components would need to be changed and the gains to power and any possible change in the power band. I am not sure if his truck has the egr system or not but he has a fbod that he has changed from the ls1 to the ls6 intake and is familiar with the process. Any information on this would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

This is a couple of private messages I had with another member here; user name: Yelo. His statements pretty much sum it up for you.
I'd tell your pal to do it though. It would look absolutely great.
His truck shouldn't have egr so tuning wouldn't be needed.
I do have my own question: Would your power range be extended at all with an LS6 manifold? I'd think it would hold the power a tad bit further?

Here:
1. you CAN use the truck rails and injectors......all that is requires is spacers/bushings and longer bolts, the truck crossover looks stupid but works.....custom bent one like I did if you are worried about it
2. the truck water-pump works JUST FINE, cutting the water neck off about 3/4" above the pump and adding a 45* adapter and a short piece of hose was all I needed to make it work
3. EVERYTHING ELSE is a DIRECT SWAP
I saw you wrote this in a thread. is it truly this easy? you incountered no other problems?
Thanks,
Kyle
Yeah..it REALLY is THAT EASY
if you wanted to make it cleaner you could use f-body injectors and do a plug-swap on the injector harness ends....that would allow the f-body rails to be used (actually '97 C5 rails...they are the only ones with the return-type fuel system like our trucks have...you can find them at at the dealer for around $100)
The only thing not mentioned there is the pulley adapter you need to buy from Speartech.....it's $70 and moved the idler pulley down about 3" to clear throttle body due to its lower position on the f-body manifold
I am trying to get time to take som pics of mine and post them.....once I do I'll let you know...
