Quick cam question
I am getting ready to order my cam package today and I have been set on a custom grind 220/224 .581/.581 112 but I was wondering if a TSP 224/224 .581/.581 112 cam would be to big for my setup. 2004 5.3 with 6" lift 35" tires, 4.56 gears, lt headers, CAI, yank sst 3200. I'm looking for power down low and midrange. Any info would much appreciated.

I would go with that 220/224 if it was a decision between those two cams for the 5.3. My honest opinion and I'm sure some people will not agree with me but I have always felt that the 224/224 is "over camming" the 5.3 just a bit. I mean you've got some nice low gears with the 4.56s but with your 35" tires it makes those gears feel probably closer to what would come in the truck which is usually 3.73s.
In short that 220/224 in that 5.3 would be better for your goals of low to midrange power.

I agree also between the 2 cams listed above. Go with the 220/224 if you are dead set between those 2.
I am surprised someone hasn't already mentioned the 212/218 cam, you would have plenty of low end power.
Also if you wanted something more for what I think you are wanting, get EPS to spec out a custom cam like a 218/222.
