Default quick exhaust question?

I have a 2001 silverado with a 4.8 motor. Truck has a flowmaster dual exhaust catback. I want it louder. I wanna cut the cats out and weld in straight pieces. I can do alll the work myself, even if the engine light comes on, i just wanna make sure i can just drive my truck no problem. Just makin sure the truck wont run shitty. I just want it to be louder but stilll have tailpipes. Thank you guys

You can tune the rear O2s out so the light will not come on. Maybe try a different muffler or even cutout so you can be loud when you really want to be.

thanks man, i appreciate it. So i can just cut em out, an then get a handheld tuner and tune them out? Its just to quiet so i wanna just make it louder all the time. A cutout would be too loud

Depends on the inspections in your area... if they check for cats, and you don't have any. You won't pass inspection.

Dont waste your money on a handheld tuner. check out Blackbear, nelsen or wheatley for tuning.

thanks guys. So delete my cats and get a mail in order tune. Sounds like a plan. I have a friend that works at a shop, so passing inspection is no problem. Thanks guys.

I like the exhaust cut-outs myself, loud when you want it and quiet when you need it to be.

The setup your wanting is what I just had with duals out the bback droned like crazy and couldn't talk in the truck without speaking up but sounded really nasty now I have long tubes ory and duals out the back much more mellow and deep with no crackle at certain rpms
