Default Racing Tires

I'm trying to decide on which tire to get. Probably gonna go with the M/T 26x10.50x16. I pulled the vig. and about to install the TT3000 so my 60' probably won't be as good and traction won't be such a problem. Which tire do you run? 60'? good traction?

That is what I have been running. The were good till the last couple of times I used them. I do have some cords showing on one of them so I think they were just at the end of their life. I picked up a bearly used set for a good price recently. Although they are also 26x10.50, they are a good bit wider than the first set I got. I was going to go with the 27x10.50 if I bought some new ones though. You may want to try those.

Why would you want to go with a 27''? Wouldn't that be defeating the purpose of having 3.90 gears?

Yes, a taller tire will change you effective gearing to a taller gear. But if wanted to stick with a 10.5 tire, you go taller to get more traction. So it is a trade off. If you can stick the 26 by all means go for it. But if you cant, you can go to a taller tire of the same width to gain some low end traction and a little more mph at the big end.
