Unhappy Radio Update

I finely had time to crack open the dash to take a look at the 3 wires. From what I seen there is nothing wrong with the wires at all. I unhooked the radio and looked at the wiring closer. I also looked at the adapter connectors and nothing. So now I don't know what could have been causing the radio to turn on and turn off.

Took mine to a friend that owns the biggest customizing shop around. Turns out my $700 Pioneer head unit "took a ****" to put it in technical terms. Piece of **** is 14 months old and, of course, warrantied for 12 months. Hopefully the stereo repair shop will be able to fix it for a reasonable price. Otherwise, I'll be sticking with Alpine from now on. I had my Alpine deck for 3 years and It sounded better and never gave me a single problem. Thats what I get for wanting something flashy. Good luck with yours. What brand is it??

That's odd. Pioneers usually have a much better reliability record than Alpine, Kenwood, etc. We have sold them for 14yr and never had much of a problem. We used to sell Alpine back in 94-95, talk about piles of crap back then. LOL

As for sounding better I wonder what model/yr ( $700 = Deh-P9400?) you had because all the new ones come with decenly high voltage but with low impedence AND 24bit DA converters where most Alpines are 1 bit DA and the impedence on their rca outputs if godaweful high..

But as with anything electronic, it can go at anytime for any reason at all.

It is an Alpine. I don't remember the model number but it is a Din1/2. I bought it in 2000 or 2001 and had installed in my 99 silverado. I took it out before I traded the 99 in for my 01.

I guess I will see if it continues to do what it was doing because right now it seems to be working fine.

Angry Another update

I thought that the radio was working okay but it is shuting off again. I hope that it isn't crapping out on me because I just sold my stock radio a couple of weeks ago. Does anybody else have an idea of what might be wrong with my radio?
