Default Rear End Cover bolt size

After installing the 4.10s and eaton, the bolts supplied with the TA rear end girdle wern't the right ones.

Do you guys know the correct bolt size for the rear end ?

would these ARP bolts work?

After 2001, the Sierras and Silverado's use the metric bolts on the diff cover. You can order them directly from T/A performance, and they will be free, if you already bought a cover made by them. Remember to not torque the bolts more than 25lb ft, and DO NOT USE THE PAPER GASKET. Use some high temp red silicon instead, and you will be leak free. Everyone who used the paper gaskets, myself included, had leaking problems. The pressure of the girdle on the diff case is to much, and it causes the gasket to shred!

If you can't wait for them to mail the bolts to you, or they are out, you can get them from most large hardware stores, just call them for the specs on what size they are, I don't remember myself.

i finally called and the lady said "m8x5 40mm long socket head allen cap screw"

but the "5" sounds outta place, she may have meant "times" for the X

does m8x 40mm long socket head allen cap screw sound like the one?
and the dude at ACE said the regular steel ones are stronger than the stainless ones... is that true?

thanks.

They are strong enough. you really dont have to torque them down too much.
