here is proof that normal carb cleaner DOES, in fact, remove the teflon coating on the throttle body blade.
carb cleaner used was Chemtool B-12
throttle body cleaner used was CRC (made by 3M)
first i didnt have any TB cleaner but i had some carb cleaner and my truck was running a bit rough so i figured id clean it, needed it anyways. started to take it off and said hell with this im gonna look up what part i need for the TB bypass. cleaned a bit with carb cleaner and a rag with the TB still on the truck. did a search and found that the first hose is long enough to work so i didnt need that but found some people saying that carb cleaner will take off the teflon coating on the Tb blade, so i picked up some tb cleaner when i got off work and got home, took the tb off and started cleaning it, then when i got done you can def. tell where i used carb cleaner and where i used TB cleaner. this also proves that its not just the same thing and different packaging.
the front side that faces the intake tube that was not touched with carb cleaner

and the back side that faces the intake manifold, you can distinctly tell where the carb cleaner was used.

Wow, that's good info and great to know! I know of alot of guys who have cleaned numerous throttle bodies with carb cleaner w/o problems, but never a GM tb. I guess that they've either gotten lucky, or different manufacturers have different treatments for their trottle blades. One thing for sure, I'll never use carb cleaner on mine after seeing your pics!!!
