So if i was to just cut off the EGR bung on my long tubes and weld up the lil hole that is left should i worry about the coating in that spot or just say **** it? so small a spot shouldnt matter anyways right?

because i dont want to just put a plate over it since i have seen that some people have clearance issues with the egr tube/bung... i want to get rid of my EGR system anyways... and cutting it off and welding the hole shut should provide better flow than just putting the block off plate on there wouldnt you think?

i put on a blockoff plate and dont see how anyone could have a problem with clearence because of the egr bung

I would say yes, you can do it, but yes, you will most likely have problems with the coating starting at that point. I would not do it unless you planned to get the recoated.

I no longer have mine. Not because i cut it off or had clearance issues...but because while having a drivetrain shop test drive it for vibrations"that are driving me crazy by the way" the EGR bung or whatever you want to call it blew out the headers at 6500rpms. Talk about scare the crap outta ya. Cause at first it sounded like my motor had just slung itself apart. So ya it was good. I have the Dynatech headers by the way.

yeah im pretty sure your post on the subject in a different thread is the reason i want it off.... but i really dont wanna get em re coated... will the rest of the coating just start to flake off from the affected area around the hole?

Could you just cut it off close to the header, then tap the pipe and install a plug?

oooh i like that idea... good call i might have to do that... and thats a good excuse to buy a good tap and die set
