If you go with HP Tuners, you can change the speed and rev limits yourself, has a help section built into it that shows you how to change it. That is if you want to do it yourself. How much tuning were you wanting to try and do yourself?

A couple of cautions should be considered:
1. If you change the RPM limit above about 5,800, seriously consider getting some hardened aftermarket pushrods. The pushrods are a weak link in the drive train chain and a bent pushrod is not a good thing. Also, if you merely up the RPM limit and don't have a different cam setup, you are entering the zone of diminishing returns. I believe that the peak HP on the 5.3 is about 5,200 RPM's and going beyond that will just diminish performance.
2. Buying scanning/tuning software is a good way to go, but you need to be committed to learning on a new level. Just tweaking some of the settings and downloading a new tune can be pretty easy. However, to keep you and your vehicle safe, you need to learn what settings to adjust, why they should be adjusted, etc. I have had EFILive with FlashScan for over a year now (I am one of the Beta Testers). Tuning electronically is a lot of fun, but it's also challenging. EFILive/FlashScan are extremely easy to use and extremely capable. No matter whether you use HPTuners, LS1 Edit or EFILive, there's a lot to be learned.
