Resale values
I have no plans to sell, but I ran across some interesting #'s at edmunds. The Sportside 2wd ext cab short beds hold a $2000 to $3000 higher resale value. The 4x4 Sportsides and fleetsides are about the same resale though. Go figure.

Re: Resale values
I checked mine on Kelly's Blue Book under Private seller and my truck still has a resale of $19,000, and that is just with factory options and with 65,000 miles on it.

Re: Resale values
1999 Excab Z71 LS - 35,000 miles on ODO (stickered over $30K and paid $26.8K
In Decebmer, I was quoted mid $16s from one dealer, and was offered a firm $17,300 from another (thats was after working it up).
I saw a 2000 excab Z71 in the paper for $14,500 this weekend with unknown miles. Looks like the values are still going down. Thanks Osama.

Re: Resale values
You don't have OSAMA to thank on this one. Its the engine defects that are coming to light. The values are probably going to drop like rocks even further. THANKS, GM FOR PRODUCING DEFECTIVE ENGINES THEN NOT CLAIMING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. The piston slap engines will have accelerated wear, poorer fuel economy, increased oil consumption and the annoying noise. My 2001 8.1 Liter does. If you believe you are a victim, come see us at htp://www.gmpistonslap.cjb.net .

Welcome to the site, Two posts and nothing nice to say. I agree piston slap is a problem, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. What goes around comes around. We here are trying to improve the performance of what we have on this board. ALL the Big 3 manufactures have problems in this arena. We have all heard of it and appreciate your concern. My motor had 47,000 miles on it and used less than 1/4 quart between changes(3000 to 3500). I have read your site in the past. Some of the info I agree with and some I don't. I would urge you to present your self and website in a more friendly mannor. In my opinion, the problem is blown out of proportion. In fairness, could you research the problems that Ford and Dodge are having so loyal Chevy owners don't make another so called mistake. Please feel free to share some of your more pleasurable moments with your 8.1
This Post HAD nothing to do with PISTON SLAP. It was simply pointing out to 2wd 1500 owners that Edmund has the sportside listed an average of over $2000 more than the Fleetside. That has nothing to do with whats under the hood.
Thank You,

Re: Resale values
My Formula had piston slap. It also had competitor slap when I ran it at the track.
Besides, this 5.3L motor only has to last until I get bored enough to swap it with an aluminum LS1 based motor
