Default Resonator, muffler or both?

Want to tame it down a bit and get rid of annoying raspyness under acceleration. Kooks 1 7/8 with kooks green cats Y pipe into borla S-type cat back system. As much detail as possible appreciated. Here's what I have now!

I would think a different muffler would be ideal.

Yea I think I'm going to start with a vibrant in front of existing muffler and see how that goes. Hate hacking up the borla system, but it's not working with these headers. LAF when I put the hammer down and very raspy. Thanks

dynomax makes a nice straight-through, internal x-pipe muffler. had one on my cammed, LT, catless 5.3 and it was the best-sounding configuration i ran. likely too loud for the taste you're describing, but it was smooth (not raspy).

get the biggest case muffler that you can fit or handle. there's also those dead-end J-pipes that cancel out specific drone frequencies, too.

I have the Gibson stainless system, and to me it was more raspy than I wanted at all times. Everything else about it was so good though, that I decided to see what I could do about it.

I ended up with a Vibrant resonator in front of the muffler. Helped it out quite a bit. Someday I might add one at the tailpipe butt haven't got a round tuit yet.

thanks, that's where I'm at with mine. Love the idle and cruze tone, but that raspy on hard excelleration is a killer. Going Wednesday to have a vibrant installed and see how it goes.

One extreme to another. Definitely sleeper mode now quiet as stock until the hammer drops. They talked me into leaving the existing borla and adding a magnaflow 12909 straight through muffler behind it. Actually to quiet for me, but he did say in about 6-8 months it will get a little louder.

Did this exactly this on a Gibson system.
Shorty Gibson headers, Y pipe: 3.5" Vibrant into the BIG Gibson muffler, and what was supposed to be stainless steel Gibson tailpipe, but has gotten rusty.

Anyway, the VIBRANT took the Raspy sound under boost away, completely. Result is a nice deep LOW tone, no rasp, very quiet at idle, NO perceptible interior sound at steady cruise speed, and a DEEP ANGRY growl when accelerating.
