Default Richer or leaner?

I was just wondering if a more free-flowing exhaust (i.e. headers and duals) would make your engine run richer or leaner? I've heard some people say richer and some people say leaner. I think they'd run leaner with more air easily flowing through the engine, but i've been wrong before and i'm sure i'll be wrong many more times.
