Good luck getting that cam to work. Don't pay any attention to the numerous people on the site here that have told you it won't work...listen to your buddy at the dealer who HAS to know what he's talking about. He works at a dealer, after all, and those guys know everything

Once again, there are no GENIII LS2 engines. No such thing.

Harland Sharp rockers are also nice, I have 1.7's (I swapped them in when I was chasing some valvetrain noise that I thought might have been the rocker arms). They basically bolt right in with little or no modifications to the heads or valve covers (I ground relief notches in my heads on the side where the pushrod goes into the rocker, as the clearance looked tight), and shouldn't need any adjustment. I just torqued mine to spec. The HS's are "relatively" cheap compared to some (got mine for under $400 from TSP at the time).

You might want to double check that the LS2 cam has a provision for the cam sensor...thought I read where someone tried swapping one in a GENIII and got cam sensor codes since the cam wasn't machined for the sensor. The GENIV engines get the cam signal off of the cam gear, and the sensor is in the front of the engine as opposed to the rear.
I purchased a new Crane Cams 1.8 rocker arm kit off Ebay for $400. The kit includes rockers, pushrods, guide plates, studs, and nuts. I like the Crane rockers because they are adjustable. I did not have to change pushrods for a different cam and milled heads.

Modern_Muscle, I just re-read my last post, and I really don't mean to come across as a dick. I'm sorry if my post sounded like it. I honestly think that you have been misinformed somewhere along the way. I apologize if I come across the wrong way.

If you run that cam in your truck, it will throw a P0343 CMP Sensor Circuit High Voltage code and the engine will only fire about 50% of the time. You can disable this code in the tune to turn off the SES light. Since the cam position sensor essentially tells the PCM whether the engine is on the exhaust or intake stroke, without that signal it will have to guess. Once it's started, I believe that it will run ok. Just wanted to let you know what you're in for if you go ahead with the LS2 cam in your LS1 based engine.

What? You don't like pitted camshaft lobes?

Good to see the differences of the 2 cam styles. A buddy was just going to buy an LS2 cam for his 5.3L after I told him numerous times to research more into the style differences. I linked this thread to his email.

The earliest LS2 cams had the provision, but only the earliest.
anything later than the first run or so, will not work.
Kind of an accident by GM that was corrected later.

Interesting, I did not know that. Well, good luck to you then, if the cam will work it should give you some good gains.
