RPM Flux? hptuners logssss......
I have a question.....imagine that right lol.
While logging some runs on hptuners i notice at the higher rpms of second gear i get a rpm flux.
For example it went from 6576-6592-6553-6592-6618-6653 then shifted.
After a few logs i have noticed it does this every time at the top of second gear. Very little in first..so far only caught it once in 5 logs....
But everytime in second it does it. Not always those exact rpms but always drops a bit then comes back up then shifts.
What would cause this?
Also it seems every now and then and by this i mean two out of say 5 runs i got knock right before are right at the 2-3 shift.
Once was high like 5.4 and slowly went away till 111mph where i let out.
Another time was small like 1.4 and went away withing about 3-4mph.
Any ideas?
New to playing with everything and just looking for a litle help.
Oh and i think i need to up my lockup point above 35mph cause i get 8 degrees of knock everytime it locks at that low of a speed. But sometimes i get high knock in the upper 28ish mph area...ideas?
This is of course under very light throttle like 17-20% normally. Dang 3200 stall needs a bit of peddle to move her **** lol.

I have never looked into this before, but first we are talkng about 38rpm. Not a whole lot lot there. You lose any spark during this? You have fly by wire throttle body right? All kinds of things could be looking to slow **** down on you. If it was TQ, you'd see some spark deduction I'd assume. I am sure it's something to do (if anything at really) with a management system of some sort. 2nd is harder on the drive train than 1st maybe.
That every now and then kr is probably BS. I say hike your attack rate up (.75) and see if it keeps spiking on you. Others don't like that, but if it's real or the enviroment causing it is real, it will continue (the kr).
yeah, 38 seems really low.

I'm guessing that you're tryin to say:
When at the desired shift point it kinda hangs for a fraction of a second and then shifts?
You may check your shift point vs. rpm cutoff. I had a similar problem where I set my shift at 6150 and rpm cutoff was the same and when it goes to shift it always goes a little above the mark (not by much) so it was cutting fuel and timing. This caused the shift to suck donkey **** and give a hair of knock here and there lol.
Could you post the .hpt and .hpl files? I'd be willing to pick at them

How do i post the file? All i got is scanned logs but thats of course got the info in it.
My shift is at 6700 but my rev limiter is at 7200.
I know it's a small amount of rpm drop but i'm just wondering why it would drop at all?
Just seems odd to me.
I am gay by wire... my timing didn't drop any if thats what your asking?
If not then what do you mean by spark?
Also all the TQ mang and so on is removed.

It's probable the trans trying to anticipated the shift. It does take XX amount of time for it to shift and it cant wait till the set rpm to start to make the shift, or it won't be able to make the shift on time. I wouldn't worry about it.
PS, you can use the manage attachments function at the bottom of the page when your making the post to attach the log file.

ah that sucks.
when I mean spark I mean actual timing advance. Not just commanded advance
If you get the .hpt tune files or any logs just email them to jake@brownlures.com and I'll take a look at em. I'm not an expert by any means, but I've gotten pretty familiar with the software and know some usual overseen bugs.
