Stock cans are good to about 400hp before they start to balloon from lack of flow and choke the motor, honestly i think an aftermarket can shows more of a freakin weight reduction gain than a hp gain lol

thats what i was fixn to post.. they are pretty heavy

well exhaust is for mostly sound. maybe 5-7whp if lucky

FWIW, when I bought my 285hp 4.8 new, Joe Gibbs rated it at 299hp and the only performance enhancing mod it had was a Corsa cat-back.

I didn't see a horsepower gain per say, but I did see move. This could be related to the junk aftermarket exhaust that was on it before. The truck doesn't fall on its face off idle now, and pulls hard at 4000 rpm, were before it didn't pull hard until over 5000 rpm.

Before if you stepped down on the gas, the truck just seemed to die for a second then pick back up. Moral to the story, avoid the jardine exhaust systems.

Put you a muffler that you like because of the way it sounds. YOu will think you gained some horsepower regardless.
