Default s/c cam?

Tell me what you guys think. 224/228 581/588 114 +4 Is this cam to big for a 4.8L. Will it be daily driveable. Really want a lopey cam but am going to be adding a s/c here shortly(hopefuly). Thunder said I'd have to put a smaller than stock pully on it to keep it from pushing psi past the pistons. How many psi can I still run?

That is WAY too big for a 4.8 IMO. You will have no lowend. Im not too sure about the pushing PSI thing, but I would get the blower first and then base your cam selection on where you feel you need the emphasis.
Im quite a bit happier with my vortech since installing the 212/218.

How much rpm are you looking to turn? Also, what kind of blower is this?

Then I'm with GTahoe. To big for a 6200rpm peak in a small stroked 4.8.

Given the same head/cam/intake, the stroke will judge piston speed.

4.8 = 3.26 stroke
5.3 = 3.62 stroke

5.3 - 6.0's are limited to a 4800rpm max tq. 62-64rpm max hp w/ the 15'' manifold.
4.8s need more rpm to reach the same max.

Given the same parts, a camshaft that peaks @ 6200rpm w/ a 3.62 stroke, will see 6800rpm w/ a 3.26 stroke. approx.

If he only wants a max of 6200rpm in a 4.8L motor, he'll need a smaller camshaft. I think the 224 114 + 4 will carry him on past that.

Here's some info I had saved.

Piston speed:
3.622 @6200RPM
=
3.268 @6871RPM
Same piston speed = same potential air movement through the heads/intake/exhaust given equal parts.
Piston Speed = Stroke x rpm x .1666666667
All of this meaning, it will take more rpm for a 4.8L to reach the same piston speed.
