Default ?'s on gear ratios, Escalade handles, keyless entry mod, and headers

Does anyone know how to tell what gears I have? I have the crap open differential so I probably have the 3.42's but I want to make sure. (I'm the 3rd owner) On my order sheet box #35 it says "R/AXLE DY2". Can anyone translate that? Also does anyone know the part #s for the Escalade door handles for the two front doors, outside? (With the smooth, painted finish and chrome handle) Also, I saw on eBay a while back a mod to make both doors unlock by pressing the keyless remote just once, but they wanted $50! Does anyone know how to do this? And one last thing does anyone have shorty headers for sale (I know most of you guys don't like them, but I cannot afford ASM's) Sorry for the long post!!!

Hey Cash! I dont know what to tell you about your keyless entry or rear end. Im trying to find out what rear end I have in my truck. But I think I can help you with the Escalade door handles. The left front outer door handle part# is 15745149 and the right front outer is 15745148. Check out gmpartsdirect.com for prices, they are pretty reasonable. Hope this helps. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks a lot for the part #s!! That was my most important question. Now we need someone to help us with our gear ratios.

On the headers, e-mail "steve" one of the Internal Engine Moderator's here. He had some a while back for $100 bucks. I don't know the answer to the gear question, sorry.

Look in the glovebox at the option code sticker. GU6=3.42 I can't remember what 3.73 or 4.10 is right now but I can look it up if this doesn't help. I am betting you have 3.42

goto gmbuypower.com
go to build a truck
it shows the codes for the gear ratios
g80 is a locking rear end i believe
just look at the numbers on the site and look for them in the glove box...
hope that helps.

From the schematics on Alldata, the keyless entry mod looks really easy to me.
It looks as simple as cutting the white wire going from pin A3 of connector C1 on the BCM, and taking the end that goes to the passenger door unlock relay and splicing it into the LT GRN wire at pin A4 of connector C2 on the BCM.

If that's as simple as it is, I'm not sure I can have a very high opinion of someone that charges $50 for that info.

I could probably draw up a diagram if that would make it easier to understand.

Yeah I heard they changed something in the cluster or air bags or something after 99 and it makes the light come on. Maybe you could take the cluster apart and take the little bulb out behind the air bag part. Also thanks for the help about the headers, I will send him an email. And thanks about the codes in the glove box. And thanks for explaining the keyless entry mod. I will try it out and let you know if it works. Later.

Hey 99silver53 I forgot to mention, theres an auction on Ebay. It is the WHOLE cluster, with trans temp. It has the white face flamed back on it, if you like that kind of stuff, it's only 200 with free shipping if you use buy it now. Sounds like a steal to me, but I'm broke!!

I saw that cluster on ebay also. I found a cluster with tranny temp gauge at gmpartsdirect.com for 160 dollars. I think I may get it from there. There are a couple clusters for Escalades on ebay that look pretty sweet! I guess it wouldnt hurt to take out the bulb behind the airbag light. Did you find out your axle ratio?
